It's been fairly well-established that the GRE is a test that measures itself. That is, GRE scores do not strongly correlate with grad school success or attrition. So why does the GRE requirement continue to exist (notably for top-ranked programs)? Why does the GRE exist at all? In this episode, Orion will reveal the real function of the GRE to graduate schools, and why abolishing the requirement might create more problems than it solves.
